When Ajaputra Ayodhya King Dasharatha once called the sage Vashishta and conveyed his sorrow. He had no children which made him always worried and sad.
Upon the recommendation of Sage Vashishta, King Dasharatha of Ayodhya performed the Putrakameshti Yajna (is a special Yajna performed for the sake of having a son ) under the supervision of Sage Rishishringa, who was an expert in Yajna, which has the guidelines for this
Yajna. Thus began the Yaga. At the end of the Yajna, Agni Narayana holding a golden bowl of divine sweet payasa in his hands and addressed Dasaratha, saying, 'Give this payasa to your wives and you will have good sons'. Soon after that Agni Narayana disappeared.
Dasaratha has three wives. The eldest is Kausalya, the second is Sumitra and the younger is Kaikeyi. Dasaratha divided the Payasa into three parts and gave to his wives. Kaikeyi was very angry with the king for not giving the first prasadam to her and giving it to Kausalya. In the meantime, the eagle arrived at the will of God and flew away holding Prasadha in the hands of Kaikeyi. Kaikeyi cried as his prasadam disappeared. Dasaratha, meanwhile, gave some of the prasadam from Kausalya and Sumitra to Kaikeyi and comforted her. After that, soon all his wives conceived. After nine months queen Kausalya gave birth to a Son, later named as Ram. Rama was born on the ninth day of the lunar month Chaitra. Soon later, Queen Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharata and Queen Sumitra to twins, Lakshmana and Shatrughna. The people were called Ram as Raghupati, Raghava, Raghukulatilaka, Raghuweera, Raghunandana.
There, on Mount Rishyamukh, Vayu's wife Anjani was doing penance in her womb to become the embodiment of the great Parakrama devotee. Shankara happily said to Anjani, 'You close your eyes and stretch your arms. Suddenly eat the prasadam that falls into your hands, and you have a son. ' As the eagle grabbed Prasada in Kaikeyi's hands and began to walk that way, Prasada escaped her mouth and fell into Anjani's hands. She ate prasadam with great respect. Nine months later, at sunrise on the day of Chaitra full moon, Anjani blessed with son named Akshaya Kaupindhari. He is Ramabhakta Hanuman.
