Dilip Raja of Suryavansha did not have children for many years. For this reason, on the orders of Guru Vashishta, he started the service of Kamadhenu named Nandini. Dilip was always ready to serve her. One day Guru Vashishtha decided to test Dilip.
As per Vashishtha's direction, suddenly a lion came running from the side bush and grabbed Nandini's neck. Then Dilip said, 'Hay Lion, eat me. But let go of my cow ', and he bowed before the lion. The same lion disappeared and Nandini was pleased and said, 'O king, seeing your devotion to Guru and your heartfelt love for me, I am satisfied with you. You will have a son soon. ' With Nandini's blessing, Dilip had a son. He named him 'Raghu'.

Raghuraja was a great judge, devout, and prajavatsal(Someone who loves people). He had many wives. He decided to go for a swim with all the women one day. But that day some of the women had menses problems, so his wish remained unfulfilled. Later, due to the same problem, his plan failed many times. One day, however, God decided to grant his wish, so his wish got fulfilled. Raghuraja enters the castle with all the women after bathing in the sea. At the same time, an old man enters the castle with him. Raghuraja enquires him about his visit. Then the old man said, 'I am a very poor womanless man. Also, I am still a celibate because I have not got a suitable wife. You have many beautiful wives. I have come here with the hope that you will grant me one and not send me empty-handed. ' Raghuraja pointed to his wife and said to the old man, 'Tell me which of these women you like, I will hand her over to you.' The old man said, 'King, your wives are more beautiful than one. So how can I pick one and not another? ' Raghuraja said, 'If so, I am ready to give them all.' The old man said, 'You take care of them because you are the king. But how can a poor man like me feed so many women? ' Then Raghuraja summoned the old man to the assembly hall and coronated him on his throne, put on his robe, ornaments, and placed a crown on his head. Raghuraja placed his head at the feet of the old man. Lord Shiva appeared in the place of the old man and said, 'Raghuraja! I am satisfied with your devotion. Let me know your wish."
"Let the Lord be incarnate in my family, and let my name be immortal.' That is what Raghuraja asked for. Lord Shiva granted his wish and disappeared. Soon after, Raghuraja had a son named 'Aj'. Aj had a son named Dasharath. After several years of Tapasya, Lord Rama was born to Dasharath fulfilling the boon!
